NUNNERY Wood students have proven that they are resilient, compassionate and ambitious. It is hard to believe that exactly two years ago the school and a nation was plunged into a national lockdown that saw huge disruption to their education as well as daily life. We remained strong as a school community throughout these unprecedented times and now we have seen a recovery in which students are determined to make the most of every opportunity and contribute to their school and local community. Academic success is very important to us; however, our curriculum stretches far beyond this as we prepare students for their future education and careers and provide them with the skills and motivation to be active and successful citizens. This term we have certainly seen students aspire, strive and achieve!
Throughout this term students have continued to raise vital funds for charities and have participated in a huge variety of trips, performances and activities alongside their regular lessons. The Duke of Edinburgh scheme is more popular than ever and students have enjoyed a return to the residential expeditions. On a daily basis the clubs that are on offer are all very well attended. This includes an incredible range of sports, dance, music and drama, in addition to the cake debate, charity club, Eco, computing, science, languages, photography, art and textiles. Outside speakers have returned regularly to Nunnery Wood, whether they are advising on careers, further education and training or educating students on important issues that they may face in their everyday life. Professional sports coaches work with students on a regular basis. The student parliament has continued to drive forward the voice of the students and they also shared their views on issues in their local community with the city council. We are very proud of the efforts of students both inside and outside of the classroom and look forward to the final term of this year.
