Mock Trial

FOR the past few months a  group of students across Years 8, 9 and 10 have been working towards the mock trial competition. This is a competition that is held at Worcester Magistrate’s Court. Students take on the parts of lawyers, defendents, witnesses and judges and really gain a good understanding of how the justice system operates. In preparation for the event, students had also been to see real court cases to understand what actually happens on a daily basis in our courts.  The students have been learning parts, planning their opening and closing speeches and thinking of questions that they can ask witnesses and defendants. On Saturday 19th March all of the students hard work was finally put into action and they competed against two local schools, with excellent performances both defending and prosecuting. Mrs Budge, who organised the event, said, “Everyone in the team did a fantastic job and both Mrs Dowson and myself in the audience were extremely proud. Olivia Chatterton won most outstanding student across all the schools that entered for her work as a magistrate. Well done to all involved.”
