YEAR 10 student, Henry Welsby has been performing exceptionally well in his cycling club.
Henry has been a member of Worcester cycling club since August 2021. He has been taking part in several course races from long endurance to 1km sprints.
The 3 main rides that Henry participated in last year were; the Ankeridge Hill climb, the Hallow 10 mile course and the Broadheath 1km sprint. Henry said, “The toughest ride of those three was the Ankeridge Hill climb, because it is a 1 in 5 gradient hill with a distance of ½ a mile.”
Henry has taken part in 3 long endurance rides this year so far. He particularly stood out when he won the 35 mile race this year in his club. All of the other competitors with the exception of one other person were adults, so this was a fantastic achievement.
Henry said, “I really enjoy cycling and competing and if the opportunity arose, I would like to go professional.”
