OUR Monday Eco club (year 7 and 8) have been hard at work these last few weeks designing and starting work on our very own Nunnery Wood Nature Trail.
Students were given the opportunity to find a better use of a space alongside the Ash Path. They decided to create a 60m long nature walk as part of their work to increase biodiversity here at school towards our Eco schools green flag.
Students have designed a winding walk through trees and wild flowers to attract pollinators. Areas are being created for birds, hedgehogs and other wildlife which includes feeders and a shallow pond. Over 90 hedging and trees saplings have been planted so far from the Woodlands trust. Students have also purchased hedgehog homes, bird and bat boxes with funds raised through our pre-loved uniform sales. A small seating area at the end is also being created using donated items from the countryside centre too.
We are hoping that students will be able to use the nature trail for outdoor lessons and getting closer to nature.
