The Morgan Story

THE founder of the Morgan car was Henry Fredrick Stanley Morgan was born in the village of Moreton Jeffries, Herefordshire,  in August 1881. In 1901 he went to work for a railway engineers In May 1905 he purchased a house called Chestnut Villa in Worcester Road , Malvern Link, a short distance from the railway station and built a small garage alongside. Here he set up his first car business  He later bought two workshops and they are still in the same place in Malvern now. This is where they began to build Morgan cars. The first Morgans were simple single-seat machines steered with a tiller and powered by either a single cylinder engine.  By 1914, Morgans had secured 10 British and World Records for various classes of cyclecars, won 24 Gold Medals in major reliability trials and had won many races on the race track. The company continues to design and build cars to this day. They are built by hand. You can go and visit the factory for a tour.
